Attend a swingin’ shindig or throw one of your own at this enormous hedonist’s playpen in East Williamsburg. Founded in 2007 by Kae Burke and Anya Sapozhnikova, this ice warehouse-turned-art space hosts all sorts of performances, providing both facilities and necessary materials for public use. Underneath their roof—which houses offices as well as a three-story performance space—you’ll find everything from weekly workshops on tap dancing and wine tasting, to the bawdy burlesque Lady Circus troupe, to the Make Fun fabric workshop for creating costumes and wearable art. The pièce de résistance, however, is the Sky Box, the city’s only dedicated aerial and performance space—it boasts a Broadway-quality truss—where not only do performers swing from the ceiling to entertain the masses, but where you, too, can be trained in the tricks of the trade, should you ever feel the urge to run off and join the circus.
