The lowdown
On a sunny afternoon, Greenwood Park feels like a backyard cookout with beers, charcoal burgers, and babies. This space, however, is a whopping 13,000 square feet and backs up to a car wash instead of a brownstone. A wall of wooden pallets forms the outer boundary, and bocce courts dominate the southern end. The shifting menu is decent, with some sure things, especially the burgers and the onion rings if you like them thickly battered. But the drink selection (24 beers on tap and cocktails by the pitcher) and the ability to sit outside in a giant space — warmed by heaters in cool weather — are the real draw. If you are looking for a backyard vibe, go in the afternoon or early evening since a clubbier scene dominates after 9 p.m., especially on weekends. Children and strollers are allowed until at least 4 p.m., but check before you go as the rules change seasonally.
