Super Power kicks the vintage-beach vibes up in Crown Heights.

722 Nostrand Ave., Brooklyn, NY, 11216

Known For

The lowdown

The sister bar to Prospect Heights’s retro Bearded Lady kicks the vintage-beach vibes up with umbrellas, fruit, and candies piled atop each $10-to-$12 cocktail, all of which feature jauntily self-aware names like “John the Beachcomber” and “Beach Vibes” — and all of which will get you tipsy pretty quickly. Try the dreamy mezcal Mai Tai or frozen Painkiller, or take your chance with the rotating delights. The plush booths are cozy, and the romantic, hazy blue lighting likely knocks Super Power to the top of the Crown Heights date-bar list. If conversation gets strained, consider moving the date to the plant-filled backyard, ordering dollar oysters or nachos from the limited-but-gets-the-job-done bar menu, or taking a turn at the pinball machine.
