The lowdown
This sliver of a bar seems fashionedfor close encounters, from the velvetydark-blue banquettes to the mirroredback bar that allows for coverttouch-ups while waiting for yourdate to arrive. But the most obviousnod to intimacy are the call buttonsat every table, guaranteeing that youwon’t be disturbed unless you wantto be. (They’re a staple of Yves Jadot,Alberto Benenati, and cocktail guruMeaghan Dorman’s other bars, DearIrving and Raines Law Room.) Notsince Weather Up has there been alow-lit boîte so worthy of a date nightin Tribeca, an area full of restaurantbarhybrids and see-and-be-seenspots. The Bennett even has romancebuilt into the menu: The Frank ofAmerica ($15), a rye-and-spicedmapleode to Dorman’s boyfriend.
