The Indian dance techniques taught by Toronto-born Pooja Narang supply a vigorous aerobic workout, leaving students sweaty and toned. She founded her studio in 2003 with just 10 students, the first professional school in New York for the Punjabi folk style Bhangra and the exuberant jazz and hip-hop- inflected Bollywood movie dance style. Today around 300 people per week flow through her Midtown West studio for hour-long high-energy shake and shimmy sessions, and she has worked with celebrities like Tyra Banks. Classes range from beginner levels, where no experience is required, to advanced sessions and private tutoring, should you want to brush up for that upcoming wedding. Her students have worked with Slumdog Millionaire choreographer Longinus Fernandes and have appeared not only on the Bollywood silver screen, but in Hollywood movies like The Accidental Husband and The Gold Bracelet.

Classes are fun and easy to follow, and you can jump around between skill levels.

Sessions are sold in packages of 10 and 20, and there are no trials or refunds offered.
