Profile

Purple-hued jewel tones immediately soothe the soul at Haven, which true to its name provides respite from the bustling streets of Soho. Originally opened in 1998, the spa quickly became a favorite of downtown, with targeted services and knowledgeable staff to execute them. A move down the street in 2015 allowed them to expand to thirteen treatment rooms, a cozy locker area with a steam room—both for leisure and utilized in the luxurious full-body Moroccan Hammam therapy—and an sun-lit space with six all-in-one mani/pedi stations, custom-designed to ingeniously accommodate both toes and fingers (meaning no moving seats and messing up paint jobs). Skincare is a specialty, with estheticians doing both the everyday treatments for fine lines and oily skin alongside in-depth facials like the “Boot Camp,” designed to resurface and rehydrate with manual and chemical exfoliation and a personalized acid peel. Hair removal utilizes three  types of wax, plus threading, and a salon provides new scalp and hair treatments, hair trims and blowouts. Massages get deep, with Swedish, Shiatsu, deep-tissue, and reflexology rubdowns, and also creative: “the Bitch” relieves pre-menstrual stress symptoms and the “Geek” targets sore areas of those hunched over computers all day. With all the options it can be hard to choose, and for the indecisive there are five “Mini-Escapes”: 30-minute manicures, pedicures, facials, massages, or body scrubs. Or try all five for $220.

Packages

Haven offers numerous ongoing packages: Spoil Me involves a half-day of services; Spoil Me Rotten, a full day. The Perfect Gift is a half-hour massage plus facial, manicure, and pedicure. Gift cards can be purchased.

Bridal
This hip but unpretentious Soho spot is a great place for all the usual treatments, including pedicures (from $29) and facials (from $60). For brides with a larger-than-average entourage, the spa can accommodate groups of up to fifteen. Call to price full-day parties.
