Profile
When The Art of Shaving opened in New York, the men's grooming brand had four simple goals: prepare, lather, shave, and moisturize men's faces everywhere. They've accomplished their goal with a slew of shaving products and tools made just for men, plus—at the Madison and 46th location—a Barber Spa where guys can indulge in a traditional shave, an aromatherapy treatment, or a full haircut and beard grooming. The brainchild of French esthetician Miriam Zaoui, a certified aromatherapist who develops all of the stores' in-house products and shaving techniques, the company’s shops mimic a classic English barbershop, with stained-wood walls and ceilings, leather chairs, big mirrors, and cabinets bulging with products like Vitamin C Moisturizer and Sandalwood Soap. The mix of old and new grooming traditions can also be smelled in the shop and spa, where the aroma is fresh and lemony—much like the yellow striped wallpaper in the store.
