Profile

The winter season continues. Ultratalented young company member Justin Peck’s latest new work, set to music by Martinu, premieres 1/31 on a program with Ratmansky’s excellent Concerto DSCH and Balanchine’s Variations Pour une Porte et un Soupir (it returns 2/2, 2/3, and 2/6). “Symphonic Balanchine” places the great choreographer’s ties to music center stage, with Western Symphony, Symphony in Three Movements, and Symphony in C on the bill, 2/7, 2/9, and 2/10. A special evening with all $29 tickets features Wheeldon’s Polyphonia, Martins’s The Waltz Project, and Forsythe’s Herman Schmerman pas de deux, 2/1. Peck’s spirited Year of the Rabbit, the standout new work of last season, with a score by Sufjan Stevens, is up 2/2 and 2/3 alongside Balanchine’s Vienna Waltzes and Robbins’s Glass Pieces. Peck’s latest new work, set to music by Martinu, is on a program with Ratmansky’s excellent Concerto DSCH and Balanchine’s Symphony in C, 2/8. Balanchine’s classic The Sleeping Beauty returns to the rep after a two-year hiatus 2/13.
