Few musical marriages have produced more ecstatic music than that of the 20th-century composer Olivier Messiaen and pianist Yvonne Loriod. Long before they wed, their relationship yielded Visions de l’Amen, a transcendent, heated work for two pianos, played by another couple whose personal and musical lives intertwine.
