The lowdown

In 2013, the Bromberg brothers finally gave their excellent fried chicken the stage it deserved: a 65-seat concept restaurant on 1st Street. Fried chicken at Blue Ribbon Bakery Kitchen costs $26, but here you can order individual pieces of breasts, thighs, drumsticks, wings, and mighty wings for just a few dollars each. There are also nine types of griddled chicken burgers (that you can customize with cheese, pickled peppers, bacon, and pineapple), sides like pickled cucumbers and hush puppies as well as chicken liver and onions if you’re feeling adventurous. Plus: housemade milkshakes, almost every good flavor of Boylan soda you can imagine, sweet tea, canned beer, and wine.
