Known For

The lowdown

Odds are, your kid hasn’t heard of an egg cream. Peter Freeman and Gia Giasullo, the city’s foremost champions of old-school dessert, are out to change that. Their exceedingly kid-friendly soda fountain lets moms, dads, grandmas, and grandpas share with their progeny the Proustian thrill of their childhood desserts, all reimagined for the Brooklyn brownstone set. Sodas are all made with Farmacy’s own syrups; ice cream comes a small, all-natural producer; and there’s a rotating menu of housemade baked goods. (And, if you want something before the sugar onslaught, the shop sells a solid selection of sandwiches, hot dogs, and other soda-shoppe favorites.)
