The lowdown

The first restaurant in pastry chef turned restauranteur Alex Stupak’s empire, which managed to redefine tacos as we know them upon opening in 2011. Diners will find the usual suspects, like lamb barbacoa, chicken, and fish-tempura tacos, but don’t miss out on the restaurant’s more experimental samplings, like Stupak’s pastrami tacos with sauerkraut and mustard-seed salsa or the pricey lobster tacos dusted with epazote, a Mexican tea. One of the restaurant’s nine different margaritas or a shot from its deep list of mezcals will also set you right between impressive main courses, and don’t skip dessert, the part of the meal that will forever be Stupak’s domain.
