The lowdown
Sisters Hannah and Marian Cheng keep it simple and fresh, serving pork, chicken, vegetable, and dessert dumplings alongside market sides like Taiwanese street-cart greens and crushed-garlic cucumber salad and using pasture-raised meat from Pat LaFrieda and Pino’s Butcher Shop and all organic vegetables. The recipes come from their mother, Mimi Cheng, and the dumplings are cooked to order, with a choice of pan-fried or boiled. The real star of the show, though, is Mimi’s Secret Sauce — you’ll want to bathe your dumplings in it.
