Profile
It’s best to ignore the surrounding concrete mini-mall and follow the scent of butter and sugar into this busy white-and-gilt bakery cum café, owned by a Greek family with a sister shop in Athens, and manned by a purposeful swarm of ribbon-wrapping young women. With a nearly overwhelming profusion of cakes and confections on display, the store is not for the indecisive. Their ovens produce a fresh selection of handmade breads, from rough-grained peasant loaves to delicate, challah-like tsoureki, as well as American chocolate cookies, Greek spice-flavored biscuits and artfully decorated French pastries, tarts and cakes. International as it is, Artopolis honors its roots with exemplary honey-drenched baklava.
ExtraThe shop does a brisk takeout business, but a few café tables are also available indoors and out.
