Profile
Bamboo plants and circular red seating sets a color-saturated, energized backdrop for the feminine dresses, suits and skirts designed (and curated) by store owner Eun Joo Lee. Using rich fabrics imported mainly from Italy and France, the clothes feature embellishments of crochet—as a type of netting over a dress, or central panel within a silk camisole—as well as velvet, sequins and exposed jacket stitching. Some styles echo vintage fashions; others murmur classic-in-the-making; many use bright jolts of color to counter New York's fashion-black sea. The dresses of Lee's own baby blue Line stand out, with simple, form-flattering shapes in lovely prints, such as light green leaves, tropical flowers and a repeated Chinese rural motif that evokes a Far Eastern kind of toile. Designs here are comfortable rather than overly delicate, and they attract a wide range of ages and tastes among the store's well-heeled shoppers.
