Profile
Merge Opening Ceremony’s cache of next-big-thing designers with Partners & Spade’s scavenged oddities, and you get Creatures of Comfort, the Nolita sister store to the ballyhooed L.A. boutique. Helmed by owner-buyer Jade Lai, who has relocated to New York to oversee the project, the 2,300-square-foot shop stocks housewares, furniture, art, and globally sourced knickknacks. Think: lip balm from Paris, candy and furniture from Japan, accessories from Morocco, and more. Lai’s most prized inventory, though, is cutting-edge fashion from rising design talents, including Rachel Comey, Tom Scott, Michelle Lane, and Mary Ping.
Key Departments
Men's AccessoriesThe trendy L.A. store’s new NYC outpost stocks semi-casual accoutrements for fashion-savvy grooms, like Rachel Comey shoes. Try the Webley, a black lace-up oxford with a canvas body and a suede toe cap ($322). Dressier options include C. Chauchat ties, which are handmade in Brooklyn. The Stephen tie, crafted from Swiss cotton, has hot-pink checks with a light-gray voile overlay ($185).
