Profile

This venue is closed.

In the 1990's, Gucci's moneyed market share grew apace with their iconic branding of everything from handbags to ice-cube trays. Nowhere is this more apparent than at their flagship store, where the interlocking G logo graces slick black walls and gray carpeting, and wraps around the sleek metal staircase fixtures. The first floor houses men's and women’s bags, plus an area of Gucci's signature silver watches. Floor Two devotes itself exclusively to men’s shoes (from casual athletic-style footwear to trim loafers and elegant, glossy boots), while Floor Three holds women’s shoes. On the fourth and fifth floors, hallowed halls of Gucci’s ready-to-wear collection, the décor shifts from logo-blasts to background showcase, to better serve the clothes. Brighter lights, more mirrors, and noticeably fewer salespeople appear with every floor you gain, but you'll never escape those giant Gs—they’re stamped on all the hangers and, but of course, on the elevator that brings you back down to earth.

Key Departments

Shoes

Gucci's shoe department is unparalleled. Bejeweled heels and sharp leather loafers share shelves with sleek sport sneakers and even G-stamped flip flops.

Formalwear

Gucci offers manifold options for polished, streamlined suits (from $1,800) and stylish tuxedos ($2,610). The Signoria has a notch lapel with a satin trim. The company also does made-to-order apparel.

Cuff Links

The luxury megabrand’s contributions to men’s wrists range from a simple silver set to a pair studded with onyx. There’s a smattering of stylistic accents—sixties mod, say, or modern artisan—but they all share a signature look: sleek, clean, and masculine.
