Profile
At this bespoke boutique, only a small company flag waving high above the storefront’s factory brick façade and a small buzzer mark the entrance. A first-ever venture into store retail for the nineteenth century Scottish brand, Holland & Sherry was opened with the goal of bringing “top U.K. fabrics to a spot that resembled a funky residential Scottish castle,” as senior designer Anastasia Ratia puts it. The décor, much of which is for sale, includes eclectic household items such as a vintage sixties Holland & Sherry ad featuring Ringo Starr that hangs above a cast iron horse. Also available are fine scarves and gentleman’s hats, along with a selection of fine cigars and men’s grooming products displayed in a nineteenth-century mahogany armoire. As for the fabrics, all are the finest that Savile Row has to offer; customers can choose between everything from preppy argyle to hipster plaid from for custom-designed shirts and suits. The fitting process is exhaustively meticulous—whether for shirts, pants, or suits, the client must call in to set up an appointment with one of the store’s designers and go over the styles available. Once picked out, the piece is ready within four weeks.
