French-Armenian designer Loris Diran opened his flagship boutique in February 2009, bringing voluminous silk cocktail frocks, wool suits, and cashmere outerwear to the Bowery. The intimate space is stylishly outfitted with mirrored walls, sleek gray suede couches, and elegant accents, like a vase full of orchids and a glittering chandelier overhead. Men’s and women’s offerings are split among racks resembling silver tree branches. The women’s selection flaunts vibrant silk dresses with sculptural bubble skirts, magenta wool jumpers with ruched necklines, pinstripe suits, and elaborately beaded cocktail frocks, while the men’s side displays cashmere knits, wool suits, silk ties, and crisp button-downs. Samples from Diran’s latest collection hang on separate racks, fresh from the runway and available for preorder. The elaborate craftsmanship is reflected in the prices, setting a new bar for this side of Bowery: Dresses hover around $1,000 and cashmere coats can top $4,000.
