Profile
The coy window display of this Parisian boutique stands in stark contrast to the none-too-subtle exhibitionism of the sex shops that line one of the West Village's tackiest streets. Inside the petite store (typically alight with French banter), blush-toned walls with milky white shelves, miniature bronzed statues of bustled Renaissance women, and black and white photos of the City of Lights relate a classic take on femininity long associated with French chic. The clothing is no different. Ludivine Grégoire, the ex-pat owner, carries a bevy of prized designers for women who favor a refined, romantic Euro-centric style: Vanessa Bruno's gauzy dresses and straight leg pants, Claudie Pierlot's fitted jackets, and Notify denim. With Prairies de Paris flats and a selection of diaphanous unmentionables, ludivine sources French looks that prior to the store's 2005 opening had sparse representation in the city.
ExtraA large selection Tsumori Chisato's whimsical tops is also available: Not purely French, but befittingly flirtatious.
SalesThe end of season sales promise 30 to 50 percent off the merchandise.
