The first Stateside location from Paris brand Sandro, this posh Bleecker Street boutique opened in 2011 just next door to similarly French boutique Maje. The mother-and-son design duo behind Sandro stock the two-room store with boxy suit jackets, dresses, and silk blouses for women and classic blazers and button-ups for men. The demure neutral palates of the women’s collection are punctuated by the occasional pop of color, and while women peruse those offerings, men can wander over to racks of clean-cut suits of the skinny pant variety. There are tables of bright clutches, belts, and the occasional pair of printed pants for women; straightforward shoes and briefcases line the men’s section walls. And while both men’s and women’s clothes dabble in patterns (the women’s more surprising than the men’s), the clean white walls and pale wooden floors serve to emphasize the brand’s simple aesthetic and casual-yet-collected feel. — Jessica Chou
