Belgian-Moroccan sisters Leona and Hasna Erziak opened this internationally minded boutique in April 2009, taking over the former home of the Lower East Side Candy Corp. The shop is named after the Italian phrase for “shooting star”; fittingly, the selection focuses mainly on up-and-coming European designers. The whimsical, wood-paneled entryway is fully stocked with Antik Batik sequined dresses and Linea Pelle leather bags. Farther back, the space opens up into a high-ceilinged white room displaying hard-to-find lines like Charlotte Sparre, Australian label Willow, and Indian designer Manish Arora. Bored boyfriends and chatty neighborhood locals flip through magazines on the cluster of leather couches in the center of the store. While some of the wares veer into costume-y territory (feather and bead-bedecked fedoras and fur-lined sequined blazers), there are plenty of wearable, flowy silk dresses and structured miniskirts to make up for it. — Molly Finkelstein
