Profile
Artist Amanda Keep takes needlepoint to the next level at her second-floor Upper East Side shop by creating patterns for everything from a broccoli pizza pie (using a takeout menu for inspiration) to the front page of the New York Post. Among the patterns pinned to every available inch of wall space and overflowing from the tops of antique tables, customers will find an ample array of rose bouquets and floppy-eared bunnies—but also ferocious tigers, patriotic American flags, and sayings like "I'm getting in touch with my inner bitch." Keep can custom-make virtually any design for pillows, belts, footstools, and even high-heel shoes. Woolworks also sells stitching supplies like skeins of heirloom-quality wool, which sit in color-coded cubbies.
