Criminal defense attorney Eric Franz has built a reputation for successfully representing numerous clients in state and federal criminal cases.
Franz has successfully represented multiple high profile clients, ranging from alleged members of organized crime and public officials charged with corruption, to celebrities such as Christian Slater and Ice-T, as well as Nestor Estrada (the victim of Russell Crowe’s phone throwing incident). He has successfully navigated the media attention that comes with representing celebrity clients and is described in the book “Courting the Media,” by Margaret Mackenzie, as a “master” at understanding the interplay between public perception and the legal process. In the courtroom, Franz displays the true extent of his intellectual rigor. His tenacity, eloquence and unassailable logic, have proven time and time again to result in victories for his clients.
A graduate of Fordham Law School, Franz commenced his career as an appellate attorney, successfully arguing numerous appeals before the Appellate Courts, and then pursued trial work as a public defender, where he had an inordinately high success rate for acquittals. Having established a reputation for his creative and aggressive style of representation, Franz opened his own practice in 2001, which focuses on pre-trial litigation and trials, as well as post-conviction proceedings in the state and federal courts.
