Repeated sightings of Hanson, as occurred this week between the adenoidal towheads’ two New York concert dates, are a potential cause for a riot. But by the boys’ second show, their star was already beginning to fade: Jesse Camp, MTV’s newest on-air personality, arrived unexpectedly and touched off a frenzy of squeals, cat-calls, and chants of We love you! He quickly retreated. After a mere two weeks in the limelight, he was graciously reluctant to steal the show from such seasoned performers. The brothers redeemed themselves onstage. But you had to wonder how long it would all last. One day you’re 15; the next, you’re history.
