In Brief: ‘Futuresport’

If I tell you that civilization as we know it in 2025 A.D., at least in Los Angeles and maybe New Orleans, can only be saved from the terrorists of the Hawaiian Liberation Organization by Dean Cain and Wesley Snipes on hoverboards and Rollerblades, flinging themselves around a sort of centrifuge in a street-rules killer game of kick-box and puck-dunk, after TV news correspondent Vanessa L. Williams has been abducted by the frothing baddies, and team coach Bill Smitrovich murdered by a cybernetic spider, you will perhaps know more than you really want to about Futuresport (Thursday, October 1; 9 to 11 p.m.; ABC), a gang movie in future drag – or Blade Runner meets Mad Max with tendencies to reggae and to Rastafarianism. Snipes, who’s also one of the executive producers, obviously enjoyed and indulged himself. I’m easy, too.
