2328 twelfth Avenue
The parking lot at the uptown Fairway is filled with Volvo and Mercedes-Benz station wagons by 9 a.m. on weekend mornings, just as the Broadway branch is choked with folks waiting on line for the store’s amazing selection of breads, more than 100 kinds of goat cheese, and olive oils, not to mention the smoked salmon, caviar, fifteen-packs of paper towels, and Granny Smith apples the size of softballs. But in addition to stocking a wider variety than your average stadium-size suburban supermarket, Fairway has great prices and an outstanding delivery service. For $2.50 to $5 (depending on distance) there’s home delivery from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day.
