Paper Chase: A Post Guide to Hill Country

The Hillary-Rudy face-off is still more than a year away, and already the Post’s nuclear hatred of HRC is making the paper sound like some mad, toothless old man pushing a shopping cart down the Bowery and howling non sequiturs at defenseless passersby. Exhibit A: Dick Morris. You’d think he might show a touch of gratitude to the woman who brought him into the Clinton White House, but to date Morris’s columns about the race have constituted one sustained anti-Hill howl. He filed two last week, the first saying that she’s going to raise money for the race and then not run – implying that she’d probably keep the dough, perhaps even using it for another campaign – and the second announcing that her candidacy “died” with the release of a poll showing her losing ground to the mayor. One doubts Morris ever advised any client who dropped a few points in polls sixteen months before the election to jump ship – that would’ve cut off his retainer. But now that he’s a journalist, the truth must be told. It’s a matter of ethics!
