All right, so zebra prints aren’t for everyone. Maybe you’d feel safer under the auspices of the Red Cross? Variations on the international symbol are fast becoming the design elements of the moment. Matt Nye has emblazoned a red sweater with a white cross; Juicy Couture has stenciled one onto T-shirts; Jonathan Adler has stitched one into rugs, pillows, throw blankets, and tote bags. Last month, Dazed & Confused magazine co-sponsored Zao’s opening fête – a benefit for the Red Cross – where Terry Richardson’s shots of models giving blood went up for auction. “It’s one of those things that resonates,” muses Adler. “One could say it’s about spirituality, safety, hope, help, the millennium. But to me, it just looks really cute.”
