Yesteryear Issue Covers: What We Wore

For New York’s sixth annual “Yesteryear” issue, on the theme “What We Wore,” the magazine’s front cover is accompanied by two additional covers, with the three images playing against each other, and representing distinctly different eras in the city’s history. The charm of the three women on Fifth Avenue in Joel Meyerowitz’s 1964 photograph brings readers back to a different time, followed by skaters at the Roxy Roller Disco in 1980, and Easter Sunday in Harlem in 1949.

This gives us three chances to introduce the issue to readers,” says photo editor Roxanne Behr, “and surprise them with three different moments from the city’s past.”
