Callie Beusman Joins the Cut As News Editor

Stella Bugbee, president and editor-in-chief of the Cut, announced today that Callie Beusman (@cal_beu) is joining the site’s staff as news editor. Beusman begins her role on June 4, and will be responsible for assigning and editing the Cut’s daily news stories, as well as coordinating and directing coverage of time-sensitive events.

“Callie Beusman has exactly what the Cut needs right now: an insatiable appetite for the news, a sharp sense of reporting, and a great sense of humor,” says Bugbee. “I couldn’t be happier to have her join us.”

Beusman comes to the Cut from Broadly, where she worked as an editor but also wrote about a range of topics including reproductive rights, politics, witchcraft, and more. She also hosted videos for the site. Prior to that she worked at Jezebel, and has had writing appear in Interview magazine, V magazine, the Hairpin, and Impose. She has a pet rabbit named Lucifer who was once featured in InStyle magazine for looking like Gandalf.
