New York Magazine and the Vox Media Podcast Network today announced the launch of Into It, a new flagship culture podcast from Vulture hosted by Sam Sanders. Speaking with friends from Vulture and leading voices from across the entertainment industry, Sanders and his guests will break down the pop culture stories of the week – from the seemingly trivial moments that are actually everything, to the big, deep questions about what it all means. The first episode is out today, featuring a discussion about Beyoncé’s newest album and how her self-titled surprise drop back in 2013 transformed the music industry. New episodes of the show will be available weekly on Thursdays.
“For me, Into It represents a dream fulfilled. It’s the show I’ve been wanting to make for years, with a team at Vulture I’ve admired from afar even longer,” says Sanders. “I can’t wait for everyone to hear this one. I know it’s gonna be great!”
Sanders joined Vox Media from NPR, where he was a correspondent and the host of the critically acclaimed radio program and podcast It’s Been a Minute with Sam Sanders. Sanders received a number of awards for his work on It’s Been a Minute – he was named “Best Podcast Host” by The Ambies, and received multiple NLGJA Excellence in Journalism Awards, the iHeart Award for “Best Overall Host (male),” and the Los Angeles Press Club National A&E Journalism award for “Best Anchor / Host” in the radio and podcasts category. Prior to hosting It’s Been a Minute, Sanders was a member of NPR’s election unit and one of the original co-hosts of NPR’s Politics Podcast, where he covered the intersection of pop culture and politics in the 2016 election and embedded with the Bernie Sanders campaign. He joined NPR in 2009 as a Kroc Fellow and held many roles within the organization, including as a field producer and breaking news reporter.
