Great news! Instagram did a good thing today! The company announced that it has stopped testing a feature that would notify users when somebody took a screenshot of their Instagram Story, BuzzFeed News reports.
Earlier this year, some Instagram users noticed the test and tweeted about it. When asked about it, the company said, “We are always testing ways to improve the experience on Instagram and make it easier to share any moment with the people who matter to you.”
Instagram’s competitor, Snapchat, has always had a screenshot alert — which is what makes Instagram better, in this instance. Now, you can screenshot something — a shirt you want to buy, a person you think is hot, somebody you want to make fun of with your friends later — without retribution, and without fear that the poster will be onto your schemes and gossipy ways. Instagram, thank you for letting us continue with our schemes and gossipy ways in peace.
