There are lots of awesome things about unclassifiable Williamsburg-based cuteness merchant FredFlare.com. But the most awesome thing just might be that owners Chris Bick and Keith Carollo are huge supporters of emerging design talent—thus their 2006 Next Big Thing! Over the past week, the site started rolling out items for sale from winners of its annual “Call for Entries,” in which indie designers from around the world are invited to submit fashions, home décor items, accessories, and other quirky designs of their own creation. Case in point: the Unicorn Wallet (shown here), created by Miki Amano (mikiamano.com), a Japanese illustrator and textile designer who was trained right here in New York at the Parsons School of Design. All told, 36 different emerging designers now have stuff for sale in FredFlare’s online “Next Big Thing!” shop—plenty of which you won’t find anywhere else.

Various prices ($20 for the Unicorn Wallet) at FredFlare.com.
