Keen Green

You might know Keen as an ecoconscious maker of comfortable shoes that are stylish enough to appeal to design snobs (e.g., Steve Jobs wears them). But you may not know that the five-year-old company has quietly been expanding into “responsible” bags, including its messenger-style Alameda line. While most computer bag makers continue to grind out severe-looking gear, the Alameda 15 (available in three color combinations, including “bronze green/iguana/sweet pea,” shown here, and so named because it accommodates fifteen-inch laptops) looks as casual and comfy as Keen’s footwear. It’s really nicely designed with all sorts of well-placed pockets and compartments, and it’s been thoughtfully, sustainably manufactured (even the molded rubber bottom is 100 percent recycled).
