Vintage eyewear enthusiasts have a new reason to visit specs emporium Fabulous Fanny’s (335 E. 9th St., nr. First Ave.; 212-533-0637): The boutique has just launched their own line of men’s and women’s frames. The Spectaculars.USA collection pairs retro shapes with bold primary colors and then, in a surprise twist, laminates patterned silk on the inside of the glasses. “People want special details that aren’t obvious at first,” says co-owner Stanton Blackmer. “It’s like wearing sexy lingerie.” To create the collection, Blackmer bought silks in tartan, paisley, and abstract prints in the garment district, then jetted to Italy to start the manufacturing process. Once the frames are cut, they’re shipped Stateside to be assembled and polished. The collection is limited to six styles, priced at $220 to $240 a pair, but more are in the works.
