The development of upper Lexington Avenue has transformed the area from a coffee-shop-and-deli neighborhood to a retail hub filled with a mix of home-furnishing stores like Nina Griscom and clothing shops like Cantaloup. New to the scene is the 2,500-square-foot store Edit (1368 Lexington Ave., nr. 91st St.; 212-876-1368), which could be the fashion love child of Bergdorf Goodman and Intermix. True to its name, the two-story boutique, which looks like an elegant townhouse, will offer a tight selection of home goods, clothing, and accessories from Derek Lam, Michael Kors, and Tuleh alongside less pricey lines like J Brand, Hanii Y, and Inhabit. Complete with a private garden and a room for parties, the shop has plush couches and a cozy wood-paneled library that will make you feel oddly at ease as you plunk down $695 for a bronze leather Anya Hindmarch clutch.
