Thirteen years after London gallery owner Carl Freedman started Counter Editions—a website that commissions affordable art in the U.K.—he’s launching his inaugural American series. From May 8 to 12, the New Museum store (235 Bowery, at Prince St.; 212-343-0460) will sell eight limited-edition works by New York artists, coinciding with their debut on Freedman’s site. The pop-up includes a kaleidoscopic screen-print by painter Mary Heilmann ($1,200), a graphite chocolate bar by sculptor Adam McEwen ($4,500), and a stained-glass, numberless clock face by mixed-media artist Ugo Rondinone ($3,600). German, Latin American, and L.A. series are also in the works.
