It’s like shopping inside a De Kooning painting at the pop-up store helmed by Fort Makers, a local design collective occupying an abandoned Victoria’s Secret from August 14 to August 28 (19 Fulton St., nr. Front St.; 212-732-8257). The four-person group—whose Abstract Expressionist–inspired creations range from an installation at MoMA PS1 to a clothing collection for Anthropologie—will sell a plethora of hand-painted accessories, such as kaleidoscopic silk scarves ($320) and special-edition, colorfully canvased Baggu totes and drawstring leather pouches (from $50). The wares, which include Fort Makers’ line of maple-wood cutting boards (from $45), are merchandised in sculptural arrangements and set against bright murals made by crew member Naomi Clark.
