6 Things We’ve Recommended Before From Dermstore’s Winter-Essentials Sale

Dermstore is having a big sale on winter essentials right now with the code WINTER, which means discounts on some of the skin-care products that work best against dry, flaky skin and chapped lips. Here, we’ve included some of our favorites, including a First Aid Beauty serum for a quick shot of moisture and Stephanie Danler’s favorite moisturizer, Weleda Skin Food.

First Aid Beauty is one of Rio Viera-Newton’s go-to brands for healing dry, eczema-prone skin, and this serum is one of her winter essentials on days when her skin feels especially flaky and itchy: “This essentially acts as a shot of hydration, giving your skin a nice boost of moisture on days when just your moisturizer isn’t enough.”

A cure-all skin salve (and one of Strat’s best sellers) that Sweetbitter author Stephanie Danler calls “an all-purpose, completely natural moisturizer that I now keep in threes: bedside, car, and purse. Nary a chemical in sight, it’s sunflower-seed oil, avocado oil, and pansy extract, and nurtures as it dissolves into your skin.”

This deep-cleansing oil from Japan wound up on a list of Dermstore’s top-five best sellers early this year. The Cut’s Ashley Weatherford describes it as an “olive oil–based formula that melts waterproof makeup in a flash, and never dries out skin.”

Another of Rio’s favorites for winter, which she likes because of their sticky consistency (so they don’t slide around on your face) and their light cooling effect.

Celebrity makeup artist Daniel Martin recommends using a glossier product like this one as a highlighter in winter when your skin’s on the drier end.

One of Rio’s favorites for curing chapped lips in winter, which she describes thusly: “For winter days when it feels like my lips are about to fall off of my face, this is my go-to. This balm also contains hydrocortisone in it and that’s why it’s so damn effective at healing itchy and intensely chapped lips.”
