As we enter the fall shedding season, an effective grooming tool is going to be your best defense against an apartment full of pet hair. Back in 2017, Strategist contributor (and cat owner) Elizabeth Gumport tipped us off to the FURminator, a de-shedding tool designed to reach through your pet’s topcoat and grab any fur trapped or matted underneath, making for a much more effective grooming experience. Gumport went so far as to deem it “the greatest pet brush of all time,” having discovered that after brushing her cat weekly with the FURminator, the “ambient cat hair in the apartment was significantly reduced” and her couch was “no longer weirdly embroidered with white fur.” She saw fewer fur balls too, since the device found all of the excess fur her cat would normally remove himself with his tongue. While all of the above makes the FURminator a worthy splurge at its regular price of $43, we were delighted to find it on sale for 55 percent off, or $19.50, over at Amazon — the cheapest we’ve seen it all year. (It ships free for Prime members, and reviewers add that it works just as well for small dogs, too.)
The Strategist is designed to surface the most useful, expert recommendations for things to buy across the vast e-commerce landscape. Some of our latest conquests include the best acne treatments, rolling luggage, pillows for side sleepers, natural anxiety remedies, and bath towels. We update links when possible, but note that deals can expire and all prices are subject to change.
