There’s no shortage of opinions when it comes to the “right” inseam length for shorts, but you really can’t go wrong with a hem just above the knee. Enter: these Uniqlo U Climbing Shorts, which are on sale for $30 now, just in time for warm weather.

They’re a more toned-down version of hiking shorts, with a belted waist and wide pockets that resemble the (nearly twice as expensive) Gramiccis Strategist contributor Stephanie Buschardt calls a cross between “dad chinos and a camp counselor’s hand-me-downs.” But unlike traditional hiking gear made from nylon, the U Climbing Shorts feature a cotton-and-linen blend, which, combined with a loose, Baggies-like fit, means you’ll have lots of breathing room. The unisex bottoms come in four shades and are listed in a men’s XS through XXL, so double-check the size chart before snagging yours.

The Strategist is designed to surface the most useful, expert recommendations for things to buy across the vast e-commerce landscape. Some of our latest conquests include the best acne treatments, rolling luggage, pillows for side sleepers, natural anxiety remedies, and bath towels. We update links when possible, but note that deals can expire and all prices are subject to change.
