At the end of a week that has included Prime Day and Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale, it’s easy to forget that the state of sales is excellent across the rest of the internet too. Below, we’ve found a bunch of sizable discounts at Madewell, West Elm, and Adidas. We also included a few favorites from the Nordstrom event in case you haven’t had the chance to shop it yet.
Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale is finally open to everyone and features deals for the entire family. Happily, many discounts apply to Strategist-approved items, including Madewell’s incredibly practical (and stylish) work tote, used by our editors and contributors alike. Graphic designer Meagan Sapashe calls it “quite literally the perfect medium” because it’s big enough to fit all of her day-to-day necessities without being too bulky.
We also spotted Dansko’s timeless clogs, which we’ve learned are “so popular with medical professionals and restaurant workers they’re part of the uniform.” Strategist writer Lauren Ro picked up her own pair when she was eight months pregnant and desperate for comfortable shoes. Not only did they solve her foot pain, but she also appreciated the extra lift the heel provides.
When we asked stylish men about their favorite underwear, Calvin Klein’s boxer briefs were unsurprisingly mentioned time and again. Their strong reputation typically comes with a higher price tag, so it’s always a pleasure to find some on sale.
In the past, we’ve called the Moccamaster the “Rolls-Royce of drip-coffee-makers.” As well as looking wonderful and having a smart plate under the pot that keeps the coffee warm, it brews pretty well too: “I taste coffee from all types of brewers, and this one gives a consistently better cup,” says Jim Munson, the founder and president of Brooklyn Roasting Company.

Garmin’s Vivoactive 4S GPS Smartwatch — the same one long-distance runner (and former Strategist writer) Karen Iorio Adelson uses every day — is almost 40 percent off. As well as “excelling at what every other fitness tracker in its category can do,” from tracking steps to stairs climbed, sleep stats, heart rate, and pulse oximetry, Adelson likes that you can download apps like Uber, Spotify, and Strava onto the watch and program it to make contactless payments.
JBL’s Clip speaker line is a Strategist staff favorite for everything from bike rides to shower sessions to picnics. It’s still on sale post–Prime Day at the lowest price we’ve ever seen, so don’t dillydally.
Until tomorrow, Adidas is taking an extra 25 to 30 percent off already on-sale items with code SCOREBIG. Included are its premium Ultraboost sneakers, which have been recommended to us multiple times. Caitlin Carlson, former deputy editor at Equinox’s Furthermore, says they “actually do feel like clouds on your feet, and I’ve never felt faster.”
These less expensive Adidas shoes are also highly recommended: One travel blogger told us the Cloudfoam line is her go-to for all trips because the shoes are “super-lightweight and breathable.”
For the biggest discount of the day, Madewell is running a “$50 jeans” promotion that’s taken some styles to more than 60 percent off. Like this ’90s-inspired high-rise pair made from Italian cotton and prewashed to be soft from day one.
