Labor Day is Monday, September 5, and many mattress brands are celebrating with holiday weekend sales and offers, from discounts that take hundreds of dollars off to freebie add-ons like pillows and sheets. Below, we’ve rounded up the best-of-the-best deals on mattresses you can buy online — including many we’ve tested ourselves and some of which get even better with Strategist-exclusive discount codes. To make comparison shopping a bit easier, all the prices we’ve listed are for queen-size mattresses, but every discount is available on mattresses in other sizes too. And if you’re still unsure of which one to buy, check out Strategist staffers’ thorough reviews of our tested-and-true favorites.

Allswell is taking 20 percent off everything on its site with the code LABORDAY20, which is automatically applied at checkout. We particularly like the brand’s luxe hybrid mattress, our top pick for a firm mattress. Former Strategist editor Margaret Rhodes says that while the plush topper is soft, the mattress allows “you to float firmly atop the mattress instead of nestling in.”

Amerisleep’s best-selling mattress, AS3, has a medium-firm density that offers a balance between plush and support. The mattress is available as a full foam core or hybrid coil core, and Strategist readers can knock off $450 on any mattress with code STRAT450. If you’re interested in totally renovating your sleep space, you can also save 30 percent on adjustable bed-base and mattress bundles and 40 percent on upholstered bed frames with the purchase of a mattress.

Aviya Mattress - Queen
$1,049

When former Strategist writer Lori Keong tested the Aviya mattress, she was “amazed at just how propped up and aligned my body felt while supine, yet how comfortably I slept thanks to the padding of the quilted foam top.” And from now through Labor Day, Strategist readers can take $200 off their purchase at Aviya with the code STRAT200.

Until September 12, Avocado is offering Strategist readers 10 percent off sitewide with the code STRAT10. The sale includes the brand’s green and vegan mattresses as well as adjustable bed frames and bases. Avocado’s fleece and organic cotton loungewear is also 50 percent off (no code necessary), plus an additional 10 percent with code LABORDAY. In particular, we like Avocado’s pillow-top mattress, an eco-friendly option that is cushy yet supportive and naturally cooling.

Strategist readers can take 30 percent off across Bear’s site with the code LD30 — and with every mattress purchase, the brand will throw in two Cloud Pillows for free. Bear’s OG mattress is a solid choice for athletes; former Strategist senior writer and devoted runner Karen Iorio Adelson found that after a night’s rest, her legs felt “fresher and less fatigued than they normally would on days after doing sprints and thigh-punishing barre workouts.” Additionally, the company offers a 365-night risk-free trial and a lifetime warranty on all of its mattresses.

Through September 19, you can save up to $1,000 on select Beautyrest mattresses, including the brand’s Black and Harmony Lux collections.

Birch Natural Mattress - Queen
$1,499
$1,499

The Birch Natural Mattress is our top pick for an eco-friendly hybrid mattress. Strategist editor Maxine Builder describes it as a “plush yet supportive mattress that’s suitable for most types of sleepers,” noting that the wool cushioning hugs every curve of her body. Through September 30, you can get $400 off any mattress from Birch — plus two free Eco-Rest pillows — when you use the code STRAT400 at checkout.

We like Casper mattresses for their zoned support, which means the foam’s firmness changes slightly across different areas of the mattress to help with pressure relief and alignment. For Labor Day, you can get up to $600 off any Casper mattress with the code LDAY22-A.

Through September 13, Cocoon by Sealy is offering a 35 percent discount on mattresses and including a free set of pillows and sheets with purchase. We recommend the brand’s Cocoon Chill mattress as an affordable pick for sleepers with back pain; Strategist senior editor Simone Kitchens found it to be especially supportive and reported that after only one night, her “usual roll-out-of-bed, lower-back creakiness was gone.”

Eight Sleep makes a smart, app-compatible, temperature-regulating sleep system, which combines an all-memory-foam mattress with a technologically slick cover that uses water to achieve the precise temperature you desire (read our full review here). Strategist writer and self-professed human space heater Dominique Pariso tested the latest version of the cover earlier this year and says it delivered “the best sleep of my life” thanks to the easy-to-use, adaptable cooling technology. Until September 4, the full system is $150 off, or you can take $75 off the temperature-control and health-tracking mattress cover. Eight Sleep is also offering up to 20 percent off accessories with a purchase of the full system or a cover.

Through September 10, European brand Emma is offering up to 42 percent off sitewide. Strategist readers can get an extra 5 percent off on top of the sitewide discount with the code STRATEGIST.

A blend of contouring memory foam and buoyant latex, the Classic mattress by Ghostbed offers high-density support that should be comfortable for most sleepers. Through September 15, Ghostbed mattresses are 30 percent off and come with two luxury pillows, while the Ghostbed Naturals mattress, an eco-friendly option made with wool and organic cotton, is 50 percent off (and also comes with two luxury pillows). The brand’s Labor Day sale includes up to 40 percent off adjustable bed bundles, mattress toppers, and bedding.

Helix sells a variety of hybrid mattresses and offers a sleep quiz to help you determine which one is right for you. The Dawn model is our pick for the best affordable hybrid mattress; when Strategist associate editor Louis Cheslaw tested it, he “drifted off as quickly as I ever have, regularly slept through the night, and never woke up feeling hot, sweaty, or achy in the morning.” Right now, Helix is offering six exclusive deals to Strategist readers: $100 off when you spend $600 or more with the code STRAT100, $150 off when you spend $1,250 or more with the code STRAT150, $200 off when you spend $1,750 or more with the code STRAT200, $250 off when you spend $2,250 or more with the code STRAT250, $300 off when you spend $2,700 or more with the code STRAT300, and $350 off when you spend $2,950 or more with the code STRAT350. Saatva’s combo of inner springs, memory foam, and a pillow top comes in three different firmness levels, providing options for every type of sleeper. It also has one of the best delivery options, with free white-glove service. That’s why it’s our pick for the best all-around mattress, and for Labor Day, the brand is offering a Strategist-exclusive discount of $450 off any $1,000 mattress purchase, automatically applied at checkout when you use the link below. Eagle-eyed shoppers may note that Saatva frequently runs offers for $450 off a purchase of $4,000, but that’s far higher than the $1,000 threshold it has extended to Strategist shoppers. Not only is this the best deal Saatva has offered, but we suggest you don’t, uh, sleep on it, because it’s the last time we’ll have this exclusive discount in 2022.

Serta’s iComfort mattresses are designed to keep even the hottest of sleepers cool — and for Labor Day, you can save up to $1,000 on the brand’s iComfort hybrid and foam mattresses and up to $1,400 on the Arctic mattress, which features three layers of cooling technology and heat-absorbing gel memory foam. You can also save $250 on Serta’s firm pillow top Perfect Sleeper mattress, which is originally priced at $1,200 or more.

Through September 13, you can save up to $600 on all mattresses at Stearns and Foster, a luxury mattress label owned by the same company as Tempur-Pedic and Sealy. The Estate Collection was developed by sleep scientists at Tempur-Pedic and is available in gel memory foam and standard memory foam.

During Tempur-Pedic’s Labor Day sale, you can save 30 percent on the brand’s Tempur-Cloud models with code STRAT30. Or you can save up to $500 on other Tempur-Pedic mattresses through September 13. If you’re also looking to refresh your pillows, the Tempur-Cloud, our favorite pillow for side sleepers, and other Tempur-Pedic pillows will also be on sale.

Tuft & Needle Mint Mattress - Queen
$1,271
$1,271

Tuft & Needle’s Mint Mattress is our pick for the best cooling mattress; Strategist writer Lauren Ro’s first impression when she laid on this mattress was that she felt totally embraced. “Sleeping on my back, I felt supported and cocooned at the same time, and when I turned to my side, the transition felt natural,” she says. Through September 5, you can save up to $600 on all of the brand’s mattresses, as well as 20 percent on sleep essentials like sheet sets, duvet covers, and mattress toppers.

With a double layer of open cell foam, the Vaya mattress is designed to help you get a cooler night’s sleep, and right now you can save $300 with the code STRAT300.
