25 Last-Minute Gifts That Will Arrive by Mother’s Day

This year, Mother’s Day falls on Sunday, May 10, which, in case you haven’t looked at a calendar recently, is just days away. And though we here at the Strategist have spent the past few weeks digging up the best Mother’s Day gifts for moms — from foodie moms to moms who like things that smell nice — at this point, you probably just want to know which gifts are going to arrive in time for Mother’s Day. It might be too late to order a personalized gift, but that doesn’t mean your gift can’t be personal.

To make things even easier for you, we’ve pulled together a list of 25 Strategist-approved, last-minute Mother’s Day gifts at every price point. Order any of these today, and they’ll arrive on her doorstep before the big day, usually with two-day shipping for an added fee.

[Editor’s note: Inventory is in flux, and depending on the shipping address, items may not arrive in time for Mother’s Day.]

Cake, by Maira Kalman
$16

This sweet illustrated book will please Maira Kalman fans and/or moms who like baking.

These rattan placemats are a favorite of ANGL co-owner Alana Grim, who likes the fringed edges almost as much as how easy they are to wipe down.

While gift cards are often the mark of a last-minute gift, they can still be quite thoughtful — like this one from Keepsake Frames, a service that will allow her to get photos from her phone printed, placed in a handsome frame, and mailed directly to her house.

Under $50

A good gift for an artsy mom looking for a new medium to explore.

For the mom who’s young at heart, gift her these Rio-approved under-eye masks in a whimsical, star-shaped design. In addition to looking fun, they’re anti-aging, too, and contain retinol along with aloe vera and hyaluronic acid.

This diaper bag that doesn’t really look like one is lightweight, practical, and stylish, making it another solid gift idea for new moms.

These sturdy, stainless, stackable steel mixing bowls are perfect for the mom who’s been baking weekly loaves of banana bread (or who has not-so-subtly mentioned her baking gear could use an upgrade).

If your mom is missing truffle fries or crispy wings, gift her with this affordable, compact air fryer, which can be easily cleaned in the dishwasher.

So she has something to look forward to every month (or every week): Bouqs is offering a delivery service, in which you can regularly send her either roses, a rustic farmers’ market arrangement, or an arrangement of roses, calla lilies, and alstroemerias.

Baggu Travel Cloud Bag

For the mom who loves lightweight things, this tote from Baggu can fit all her everyday essentials and weighs only eight ounces.

One way to save your mom some trips to the grocery store is to buy her a subscription to a meal delivery service. Strategist writer Lauren Ro particularly likes Marley Spoon, which she says works fairly similarly to other meal delivery kits (premeasured ingredients, step-by-step recipes) but has slightly more generous portions and particularly fresh produce.

There are several start-ups making it easy to get flowers to your mother, even on this strangest of Mother’s Days. We like this orchid from The Bouqs, which comes already potted in a minimalist slate-blue planter and (with proper care) will survive far past a week or two.

This portable speaker from Bose offers up the same crisp sound as the brand’s pricier picks, can be toted around anywhere (inside and outside), and plays for up to six hours on a single charge.

If your mom has caught every episode of Master Chef, she’ll likely enjoy this Gordon Ramsay–led Masterclass, which tech strategist James Matthews called: “very Gordon Ramsay.”

Get this yogi-approved mat so she doesn’t have to keep using the rented ones at her studio; it will be at her door by Friday for an extra fee.

Under $150

This electric kettle from Fellow has appeared on our gift guides for both tea lovers and coffee lovers; it might be the only thing those two fandoms agree on.

Fitbit Versa 2 Smartwatch 40mm
$150
$150

For the mom concerned about getting her steps in while quarantined, a FitBit that doubles as a smartwatch (it also tracks sleep quality and has a built-in Alexa).

This neat kitchen contraption keeps wine sealed and safe from oxidation after opening.

If you’d prefer to bring your own blooms to Mom from a local florist (or your bodega — we don’t judge), you can at least get a handsome glass vase to put them in.

Over $150

A barista-approved, easily adjustable coffee grinder for the mom who can’t function without a fresh cup.
