Alex Kristofcak, 32, and Daniel Bersohn, 29, met in 2009 as members of the LGBT running club Front Runners. “At first I thought Daniel was very cute, and very nerdy,” says Alex, a financial analyst. Daniel, a mechanical engineer, “tried to play it cool,” but he liked Alex too. “We bonded quickly,” Daniel says. Two years later, Alex popped the question right after he finished running the San Francisco marathon. “Alex proposed as soon as we sat down for lunch,” says Daniel. “He was so nervous, and I was so happy, I cried. The ring wouldn’t fit, so the waiter brought us a dish of olive oil to help me get it on.” At the couple’s wedding the following summer at the Foundry, Daniel’s childhood rabbi officiated, and they entered the reception to a live-string version of Rihanna’s “We Found Love.” They danced all night—even after the air-conditioner broke down. “Something alwaysgoes wrong,” says Alex. “But everyone’s there because they love you, and you’ll have a great time regardless.”
