Just when it seemed like bag charms were becoming a relic of the past,I spotteda new sort popping up on bags around New York and Paris: The glasses-casecharm. A natural evolution from theleather AirTag holdersof 2025, these charms are far more utilitarian than the flower- and animal-shaped ones of yore. I’ve had one since May, and with it securely attached to my Polène Cyme bag, I don’t have to dig around when trying to switch between my glasses and sunglasses, meaning no more stalling in a crowded subway station.
I first spotted glasses-case charms while browsing one of my favorite French bag stores, .Kate Lee, in Paris last month. Her leather pieces and shoulder bags were adorned with oblong cases inleopard print, crocodile embossed leather, andflorals, and the store had enough options to rival, say, Urban Outfitters’ well-establishedselection of bag charms. I left with a blue floral one but quickly realized that .Kate Lee was not as original as I thought: I spotted another glasses-case charm in the window of one of Paris’s many eyewear stores, and when I returned to New York, I spotted a similar display at Madewell in Soho. At least two horsemen of the Bag Charm Apocalypse —Vera BradleyandMaison de Sabré— have followed suit, and I’d bet other brands, like Clare V., J.Crew, and Loewe, who have all made bag charms, are not far behind.

I’ve been wearing glasses since I was a toddler, so I’ll be the first to tell you that glasses cases with clips are not new. The difference between a clip-on glasses case and a bag-charm glasses case is in the marketing, but I’m here for it. We may have already reachedpeak bag charm, but I’m not ditching mine anytime soon. For those feeling the same way, here are all the glasses-case charms I’ve spotted so far.

I’ve been using my Vera Bradley bag charm since 2025. I’d hope this one would last as long.

It’d be easy to miss the clip on this Italian leather pouch. There’s a microsuede cleaner inside.
