I will admit that I have so manybathing suitsthat I have a dedicated bathing-suit drawer. And yet, a truly flattering one-piece was not a part of my collection until recently. Sure, I have some skimpy one-pieces that let my backside see the light of day and even some fancy French ones that make my over-40 breasts look … French. But until the Left on Friday Sunday Suit, I had never felt both cute and contained by a single piece of lycra.
I can usually identify the brand of a suit without asking its owner, but when I spotted a chic surfer mom in a V-neck plum number looking sexy without being in danger of a loose areola — I approached her for the details. She told me it was the Sunday Suit from Left on Friday (a brand I knew only from its workout line) and that she was going to get it in every color. I added it to cart from thebeach.
There are a truly overwhelming number of colors to choose from, and I was leaning toward Rescue (neon red), but a small voice in my brain whispered “make an attempt at elegance.” I was worried black might feel too sporty when my cursor drifted towardStormy(currently sold out). Described as a “deep taupe,” the Stormy felt Eres-adjacent and that it could pair well with both aDôenskirt and ajort.
Left on Friday has a strong fan base that provides very helpful fit information in the comments, leading me to size up in my order. They steered me right. The medium lifted all that could be lifted while still allowing me some breathing room for snacks. I love that the straps are delicate while doing the work of a surgical breast-lift and that the suit is high cut without demanding a full-body wax. It is practically seamless, and yet the fabric is imbued with firming forces that challenge my basic understanding of physics. If High & Tight were a one-piece.
I have felt called to send the link unsolicited to all my group texts — college, mom, fun friends, and actresses. Sue me, I look cute in this suit.
