One thing you won’t find at Madewell’s Insider sale right now: the Transport Tote, which for years has been our best women’s work bag. Madewell recently discontinued the Transport line in favor of the Essentials collection (which the brand says features more “modern silhouettes”), and the Transport Tote has been out of stock in all sizes on its site since then. But, today, I found a cache of Madewell bags on sale at Nordstrom Rack, including the zip-top version of the Transport Tote.
We’ve long loved the tote for its “simple yet classic” design, its lack of branding, and its roomy interior. Brenley Goertzen, who tested many women’s work bags before naming Madewell’s the best, says the leather is slightly grained but still smooth, and it’s easy to dress up or down. “There’s enough room for both my 13-inch work laptop and my personal MacBook Pro, plus a charging cable, a hefty book, a few snacks, and a small pouch carrying other daily essentials like makeup and hand cream,” Goertzen says.
