A simple blackvestworks overtime. It’s a shirt for about three months out of the year and an easy extra layer for the rest. It levels up anything you pair it with, especially plain-white long-sleeves or thinner sweaters, which is how I like to wear mine.
I’d long had my eyes on the now sold-out black Maryam Nassir Zadeh Apollo vest, but after months of waiting around for it I bought an also now sold-outBabaainstead. I love that vest, the cotton is breathable all year long, but the deep-V cut has felt less versatile when worn alone (I do end up layering it over other Babaa sweaters). So when I got this $60 Quince cashmere one recently, having not fully satisfied my MNZ Apollo craving, I was surprisingly pleased.
It’s 100 percent Mongolian cashmere, not a blend, which is something I looked closely for in the product details. I also scoured the review section on fit suggestions. Buyers noted a spacious armhole that didn’t cut too high. I like to size up inQuince stuffpersonally because I generally want my clothes to feel more oversized than clingy. But since cashmere is thinner, something too oversized might look kind of floppy. I landed on sizing up one size, which was perfect. Not too loose, but roomy enough to wear over a long sleeve tee or a thin sweater. It’s been ideal for the start of fall’s cooler weather. The cashmere is so soft, the mock neck just right — and best of all it’s just $60.
